Oliver Halsman Rosenberg (San Francisco) and Clint Taniguchi (Tokyo) are a collaborative duo who work under the name Crust and Dirt. With what they call their “Instant Drawing Machine”, the artists produce playful images generated from wishes requested via webcam from passersby in Barcelona, London, Stockholm, Shanghai, Tokyo, and New York City. Accompanying the exhibition Crust and Dirt’s Instant Drawing Machine, this publication features seventeen black-and-white illustrations as well as an essay by Lawrence Rinder, which explores themes of collaboration and play in the duo’s community-driven work.
