Terry Winters: Facts and Fictions

Accompanying the exhibition Terry Winters: Facts and Fictions, this publication provides an overview of Winters’s drawings from 1980 to 2018, including full cycles of drawings as well as a selection of large-scale works on paper. A curatorial essay by Chief Curator Claire Gilman; an excerpt from American author Rachel Kushner’s new book entitled The Mars Room: A Novel; a new series of drawings by Winters in response to Kushner’s text; and a new work by the MacArthur-winning poet Peter Cole provide insight into the exhibition’s overarching theme: namely, the desire to make sense, however fictively, of the manner in which the visible world is constructed and received.
