Botanique Empowerment Dolls are a rebranding of traditional Antiguan and Barbudan dolls, embracing African heritage and Caribbean culture. These topsy-turvy dolls feature reversible designs, showcasing black women in national dress made of Antiguan madras and a royal Kente African print. They replace th negative “Mammy Doll” stereotype with empowering accessories like IT devices, symbols of food production and local currency. Botanique Studios integrates members of the disability community in doll production, championing inclusivity and honoring African roots. This intergenerational initiative embodies Botanique’s philosophy of empowerment and celebrates Antigua and Barbuda’s uplifting history. The dolls which can stand on their own are great collectibles or gifts for children 10 years and older.
